  • COLLECT HW-Journal 3 (put on your group's shelf), Backroads packet
  • Read "The Story of an Eyewitness", by Jack London, on page 160 in the green books
As you reading, keep in mind this is a feature story.  A feature story is similar to a news story because is captures the who, what, where, when, and why, but also goes beyond and really gives readers a detailed description about the event.  As you're reading, on a piece of loose leaf put a heading:

On one side of the loose leaf WHILE YOU READ:
  1. Create a flow map the flow the series of events of the article 
  2. Create one box for each bold heading (title the first box-Intro)
  3.  In the box, summarize the section in 1-2 sentences.
One the other side of the loose leaf AFTER YOU READ:
  1. Describe the who, what, where, when and why (why is it news) of the story
  2. Share 2 pieces of evidence from the text of when the author gives descriptive details.  What are they describing and how?
Finish what you can, it will be collected at the end of the period.

If you finish before the bell:
  1. When you're finished, create 5 interview questions to use to interview someone about the article you're writing.  Questions and answers are due by Tuesday.
